ICC 2012 Wimbledon Grasscourt Event Rules

The event will take place on the weekend of 23 and 24 June 2012.

It will take the form of a mixed doubles round robin.

The Rules for the Event

Players must enter as a couple. Players must be 19 years of age or older.

Players must be available for both 23 and 24 June. Play starts from 9h00 until dark on Saturday and Sunday.

The entry fee is R180 per person (R360 per couple).

Entry forms and proof of electronic payment must be emailed to the tennis administrator at icctennisctte@gmail.com or faxed to 0866 136 051 by 20h00 on Friday 24 June 2011.

The championships will take the form of a round robin. A minimum of 6 matches on Saturday and 6 on Sunday will aim to be played – weather permitting.

The draw will be split into 3 random groups. The top scorers (top third) of the groups will go through to a special group on Sunday and be eligible for the main prize of R1000 per couple + an entry into our Wimbledon trip competition. The other two group’s winners will also receive prizes.

We will be having a ‘bonfire in the boma’ with braaipacks available as our Saturday evening event. This will commence directly after play at 16h30. Great music and great company !

A period of fifteen minutes grace will be granted should a player be late for the start of the morning’s play. Thereafter he/she will forfeit the match. Should a match be interrupted by rain, bad light or for whatever reason, the match will resume at the first available opportunity at the exact point at which it was called off.

Players are requested to wear predominantly “all white” clothing.

No umpires or line judges will be assigned. Any differences or disagreements requiring a decision will be taken to the championship organizer(s) and his/her (their) decision is final and binding.

The event director is Brenda Fineberg. The event judge is Craig Herbst.

Squash League

Irene Country Club Squash is proud to be a part of the North Gauteng Squash league, with both Ladies and Men’s league participation. To see what it is all about come and watch a game or two, Men’s league takes place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Ladies league takes place on Wednesday evenings form 18:00 onwards!

2012 Men’s Club Championships – Results

Another exciting Club Championships was played over the weekend. With only 2 shots separating the front runners, we knew that it would go down to the wire. Louis Jonck led day one with a score of 69. Matt bright was two shots behind on 71. On Sunday Matt turned 5 shots behind the overnight leader Louis and it certainly looked like it’s game over. As we all know this game so very well, it is never over in strokeplay. Matt came back on the inward nine with a 34, while Louis held on by shooting a two over par 38, winning the 2012 Club Champs by 1 shot.

ICC Tennis Doubles Champs Entry Form

IRENE COUNTRY CLUB DOUBLES AND MIXED CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY FORM

The event will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 17 September to 02 October,

with the finals being played on 8 October.

Entry forms must be handed to the administrator or emailed to iccennisctte@gmail.com.

The closing date for entries is Saturday 10 September.

The entry fee is R25 per person for Doubles and R25 per person for Mixed Doubles.

The rules for the event are as follows:

Players must enter with a partner.

Players must be available for all the days listed below but will be excused for one day in either weekend one or weekend two.

Play starts from 9h00 until dark on Saturday and Sunday.

A period of fifteen minutes grace will be granted should a player be late for a scheduled match. Thereafter he/she will forfeit the match.

The championships will take the form of a spider draw. In the event that there are too few entries, the organizers retain the right to hold a round-robin.

Players will play the best of 3 sets with a seven-point tie-break at six games all in the first 2 sets. The third will be a pro set (10 point tie break). The third set will be a long set in the semis and finals.

Should a match be interrupted by rain, bad light or for whatever reason, the match will resume at the first available opportunity at the exact point at which it was called off.

The fixtures for the coming weekend will be placed on the notice board by 16h00 on Wednesday afternoons and emailed to all members.

No umpires or line judges will be assigned. A player may however approach the championship organiser to request that an umpire be assigned.

Any differences or disagreements requiring a decision will be taken to the chairperson and his/her decision is final and binding.

The results of the championships will not affect the member’s position on the ladder.

The tournament will be organised and run by the ICC Tennis Administrator.
