I was a member in Thabazimbi from 1987 to 2016 and represented the club in the Bushveld League for over 17 years. I represented Thabazimbi at the GNGU and was elected to the GNGU Executive in 2008. I was a member of the GNGU Executive for 11 years and was responsible for various portfolios, finance, course ratings and senior golf. I served as Treasurer of the Union for two years and Honorary Secretary for three years. During the 11 years, I managed teams to Inter- Provincial Tournaments on a Senior and Mid-Am level.
In 2019 I resigned from the executive to take a sabbatical. I believe that with the above experience, I can bring some value to the club’s golf committee.

I have been involved with Irene Country Club as a member, Golf Captain and Chairman for a number of years. I was part of the team that oversaw the reconstruction of the sporting facilities and clubhouse. My reasons for making myself available for the Board is that I believe our current Board are not aware of the heritage that our members and visitors enjoy. I understand that the dynamics of our environment are ever changing but I believe a balance is required. There is the matter of the river which has a huge impact on the golf course, the status as the best golf course in Gauteng North we had, and financial impact the flooding is having on the club. This should be a priority to mitigate these risks and create a strategy to beat this challenge.
I believe I can add value and help support and build a team to meet these challenges.
